Career Projection

Where am I headed?

The multimedia industry is a fast-spinning wheel. It’s always moving, expanding, and merging new technologies with creativity. That’s one of the reasons I was drawn to this field; the unpredictability and versatility make it the perfect environment for creative minds. A multimedia specialist is expected to move across formats, whether it’s animation, video, interactive design, or live experiences, and that’s exactly how I see my career. The goal is to constantly work on different passion projects, sharpening my skillset, and using the full range of what I’ve learnt during my degree.

The most immediate goal is simple: graduating with my Bachelor of Digital Design (Animation). That has been the anchor of the past few years, and it stands as the cornerstone of my emerging career. Once I graduate, my short-term focus is to dive into interactive experiences and personal animation projects. I want to keep exploring tools like MadMapper and TouchDesigner, experimenting with how 3D models can be placed in real environments, project I’m currently working on at Bluey’s World.

I strongly believe personal interests should be woven into professional work, which is why I am also drawn to opportunities within the sporting sector. This year, I have had the opportunity to work behind the scenes at the Brisbane International Tennis Open, which starred world-class athletes such as current world no. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, and Aussie favourites Nick Kyrios and Thanasi Kokkinakis. The attention to detail of put in this event was remarkable and I am excited for future opportunities. My long-term dream project, is the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic games. The Olympics is such a cultural moment, and to be able to create projects that support it whether through animation, projection, or interactive design would be the crown jewel of my career.

That said, animation will always be the backbone of my creative path. I grew up with Pixar and witnessed the birth of CGI and 3D animation, so I’ll always have that side of me that wants to tell stories, especially cultural ones. One of my long-term goals is to collaborate with African writers and bring cultural stories into animation, building something that is not just technically strong but deeply meaningful.

My final-year project ties directly into that vision. I chose to create an animated short film that pays homage to my own journey to becoming a creative and to the women who paved the way before me. It demonstrates my ability to use animation for storytelling while grounding it in history and identity. I see this project as the bridge between what I’ve achieved in my degree and the career I want to carve out moving forward.

Another area of interest for me is documentary. I’ve been inspired by how platforms like Netflix produce documentaries that go beyond the obvious angle like the Dallas Cowboys documentary which saw the Cheerleaders receive a 400% pay rise. That’s the impact we have the power to trigger.

So ultimately, my career path isn’t a straight line. It’s more like a series of projects that matter to me, projects with good stories. That’s why I see myself as a multimedia specialist: because versatility and storytelling are at the heart of everything I do.
